This course will help therapists define trauma, how to identify characteristic behaviors of trauma survivors, and explore how to communicate and respond to survivors from a trauma informed care perspective. Earn 2 NYS / NCBTMB CE hours.
Students will:
Define trauma, and identify behaviors of trauma survivors
Define trauma informed care through lecture and discussion of articles and other materials
Develop an understanding of why trauma informed care is particularly important in communicating with all clients, and which clients are at higher risk for trauma
Develop ways to communicate from a trauma informed approach with clients through case studies / role play and discussion
